Por acaso depois das "mexidas" de anteontem e de ontem, alguém já recebeu notificação de publicação de uma cache nova no seu email, ou no telemóvel?

Aqui hoje também, até já fiz um FTF .
O problema foi no dia 15, saiu uma cache minha e ninguém recebeu notificações (deve ser por ser uma cache minha ). Agora sem brincar, deve ter sido por causa das "mexidas" que estavam a fazer, eu próprio soube da sua publicação por uma mensagem de 2 linhas da própria Groundspeak. Aquela coisa do "[GEO] Notify: SUp3rFM published ..." não apareceu nem a mim, nem a ninguém.
Agora já corre tudo normalmente, via mail e sms.

Geocaching Favorites

Geocaching Favorites is a simple way to track and share the caches that you enjoyed the most. For every 10 caches that you have found, you will be able to Favorite 1 exceptional cache in your find history. The Favorites accumulated by a cache are displayed in search results and on the cache page so everyone can see which caches stand above the rest.

Premium Members can earn and spend Favorite Points, and sort search results by the most Favorited caches within a radius of your search. Basic Members also benefit by seeing how many Favorites a cache has earned in search results and on the individual cache pages.

Visit your profile to see how many Favorite Points you have accumulated, or the Knowledge Base to learn more about Favorites.

Geocaching Maps Beta

Give it a test drive!

Take one look and this new map speaks for itself. The fundamental engineering of the maps has been completely revamped to utilize a tiling system that generates and stores map tile images on the fly. Once an area has been generated the data is cached briefly so subsequent visits to that area appear almost instantaneously. No more waiting, and no more 500 cache limit!


This first implementation is only the beginning. Once we see how the map tile engine is working under load we can set a baseline and begin adding additional functionality such as smilies, filtering, PQs and more. This is the first of several consecutive upgrades to occur each month through March, so keep checking back.


Geocaching Statistics


What was your biggest caching day of all time? Geocaching Statistics lets you visualize your geocaching activity in different ways, and serves as a checklist of challenges to tackle in the process of becoming a well-rounded geocacher.



In the past, adding detailed statistics to your public profile required jumping through hoops, and once generated needed continuous updating by hand to keep them up-to-date. By hooking directly into our database of geocache finds we are able to provide you with continuously updated statistics with no effort on your part.

As with the Maps Beta, Geocaching Statistics is a multi-phase project. We plan to add many more and varied types of statistics such as country maps and milestones in the next release.

Será que teve algo a ver com o aparecimento (completamente desastrado) da concorrência da Garmin?

Parece-me uma resposta demasiado rápida da GS - se calhar estas funcionalidades já estavam na forja.

Mas, seja resposta à concorrência ou seja coincidência, agradam-me as novidades dos Favoritos e dos Mapas.

Estavam previstas sair hoje - e sairam. E sairam bem.

Por outro lado, acho que agora tenho o meu perfil traduzido, algo que não era verdade hoje de manhã (salvo erro).

Há alguns pequenos pontos a limar (uma combinação entre português e inglês na minha página de estatísticas, por exemplo), mas, de uma forma geral, parece que está a funcionar. Boa!

Já atribuí 38 dos meu Favorite points.

Infelizmente só dá para caches found, o que me impossibilita de 'favoritar' caches que visitei várias vezes mas onde apenas fiz Note logs porque não fui eu que a encontrei (exemplo: "Fenda da Calcedónia").

Também gostei do que vi ...

Estava até um bocado apreensivo, depois da trapalhada do último "update", mas desta vez parece que o "acerto" foi logo à primeira, tirando como já referido uma ou outra limalha, que a seu tempo concerteza também poderá ser aparada ...

Acho particularmente interessante a funcionalidade de "favoritar", tanto que os meus 107 votos já foram distribuidos ...
Mais engraçado ainda (acho eu), a cõr (alaranjado suspeito ) com que é implementada !!!
Além da utilidade, traz também um pouco mais de colorido à página ... É que andava-me a parecer que a tendência era cada vez mais para uma simples e monótona côr ...

Em todo o caso, para ordenar o conteúdo dum retângulo arbitrário vamos ter de esperar novas funcionalidades no geocaching.com. Entretanto, os favoritos nas pocket queries já tardam... (Pessoalmente, ainda não gastei nenhum tempo com os favoritos, mas sei que em breve se vão tornar algo de importante.)
