A note from Belgium

A small note to our colleagues Geo-Cachers in Portugal.
We’re a family from Belgium, visiting Portugal for more than 10 years now, and we know a lot of fine places. This year was our first Geo-caching visit, and we liked it a LOT !
First, we’d like to thank all of you for the great caches and places that you made us discover !
Some brought us to places we had visited before (like the Aldeia Jose Franco, Convento de Tomar or Cabo da Roca and some more), but your cache always added a special twist, bringing us to some fine places, we would never have spotted without your help.
We couldn’t make it to the GeoMeeting in Lisboa last Friday, that’s why we share some of our “observations” with you through this thread.
We searched 26 caches (in one week time), 1 DNF and one cache that was no longer there (Cave of Sta Margarida).
The large majority were regular caches and traditional (4 multi and 2 virtual).
We did look for 2 small and 3 micro caches.
It was refreshing for us to go out and look for a regular, and spend some time searching it (driving to the cache, finding the right approach, hiking through difficult terrain).
In our country, regulars are often considered “pick-ups”, due to the dense population and roads.
So we tend to construct a lot of multi’s, taking people on a “tour” before finding the cache.
In the caches we found in Portugal, this “tour” was sometimes provided as advise, but the sheer availability of terrain, makes it possible to hunt a regular, and spend the better part of half a day getting there and back, enjoying the place.
If you want to react or put some questions, observations, I will be following this thread for some time. For more information about the caches visited or our logs and photos, feel free to visit our profilehttp://www.geocaching.com/profile/Default.aspx?guid=4b4ecb9d-dc1b-46b8-bbc5-37c2119f9051. You can always reach us through the geocaching.com website or at gr1sou@yahoo.com
Thanks for a very fun time !
CU again (next year ?).
